Herdade da Torre do Frade has the pleasure of inviting you to visit their property and stay overnight in your motorhome at their facilities. After purchasing your product pack, you are welcome at the farm store to check-in, and be filled in on the rules you should respect throughout your visit.
We are a family who have been involved in agriculture since 1839, the year in which our ancestors acquired the Torre do Frade Estate. The estate has been passed down from father to son for many generations, continuously increasing its exploration area. Torre do Frade is situated in the Alto Alentejo, in the municipality of Monforte, and Parish of Santo Aleixo and is a magical place which has been touched by history. The estate was a convent from 1384 to 1834. Here, every step and every stone reveal a secret of time. Currently, it explores an area of about 3,000 hectares of land.
On this wonderful Alentejo farm we produce bovine and swine cattle, cereal, cork, grapes and wine. The latter product has the privilege of ageing and maturing in a 17th century cellar of Italian design, which is the ex libris of this estate. After bottling, the bottles age in a 17th century tunnel of French construction, excavated in stone, which is unique to the Alentejo. This tunnel is about 100 metres long and maintains a temperature which varies between 14 and 18 degrees Celsius and a humidity of about 60% to 90% all year round, all this without a single air conditioning unit.
We have several parking spaces with a 360º panoramic view over the Alentejo landscape.
