The history of the Vale Barqueiros estate dates back to the 14th century and its origins are strongly linked to the order of St. Benedict of Aviz, founded by the Order of the Knights Templar. In 1986, it was bought by the Comendador Vasco Faria who transformed it into the heavenly place it is today, with a strong connection to agriculture.
The Vale Barqueiros estate is around 800 hectares in size. It was founded in 1853 and is situated a few kilometres from Alter do Chão, in the beautiful northern region of the Alentejo. It’s an extensive property which belongs to the family of the Comendador Vasco Faria, and it divides its main activity between grape and olive production.
It currently includes 122 hectares of vineyards and 368 hectares of olive groves, from where only the best fruits are selected, creating wines and olive oils marketed under the brand “Vale Barqueiros”. The property also includes 140 hectares of Cork Oaks and Stone Pine trees, two dams, 3 lagoons, a hunting area and a sport fishing club.
We have two parking spaces by the vineyards.
